Why Choose Excell Timber Windows & Doors
At Excell Timber Windows, our mission is to deliver unparalleled quality and craftsmanship in every window and door we create. We are dedicated to using sustainably sourced timber, ensuring our products not only enhance your home but also respect the environment. Our values are rooted in integrity, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of excellence, making us a trusted choice for homeowners across the East of England.
As classic joiners, we love timber, it’s in our blood which is why we work hard to design and install the highest quality timber windows and doors throughout the Suffolk and Cambridge area. However, we also recognise our clients sometimes want other options so we also offer a high quality timber alternative uPVC option and an excellent secondary glazing solution.
At Excell Timber Windows & Doors excellence is our standard
We’re proven experts with over 30 years’ specialist experience of installing timber windows and doors in all kinds of properties, from historic houses and timber-framed cottages to new-build family homes. We have scores of great reviews from happy customers, just take a look at our Google reviews.
We also understand the sensitivities of working on listed buildings or in conservation areas. Therefore, we can provide practical solutions that are aesthetically pleasing and conform to regulatory requirements.
Based near Bury St Edmunds, we work throughout East Angalia covering the Suffolk and Cambridge, Essex and Norfolk areas.
Our Commitment and Services to our Customers
We have over 30 years continuous trading as qualified carpenters and joiners and take great pride in our commitment to quality craftsmanship.
We chose to work with George Barnsdale because they are as committed as we are to quality and great customer service. Their focus on continuous improvement ensures that all timber windows and doors are produced to the highest quality, giving our customers confidence that they are not only receiving outstanding products but also the finest installation services available.
For Secondary Glazing we have partnered with Selectaglaze who were awarded a Royal Warrant that recognises service and excellence.
For customers looking for a timber alternative we have partnered with the Residence Collection, a UK based company that specialises in designing and manufacturing high end uPVC windows and doors. Whether you have a period property requiring timber alternative or a contemporary new build, there’s a range for you.
The way we work
We have built an excellent network of partners from manufacturers to installers and other complementary trades to ensure you get the best possible outcome for your project. We understand historic buildings better than most, having worked with timber frame specialists and other experts so we understand how one aspect of a building affects another.
It’s no surprise that learning how to take apart someone’s home whilst it’s balanced on a row of Acros teaches you a lot about how timber buildings are made and how to restore them using the same skills as our ancestors of a few centuries ago.
We recognise that each project is unique and we tailor our solutions accordingly. Taking our time to get to know you and to understand what you are trying to achieve, we also assess the building itself to ensure we deliver for you, your home and the planning officer, if required!

How we give back
We place great importance on sustainability and reducing our impact on the environment. We therefore manage our business in order to create as minimal impact as we can, and to support our customers to do the same.
On a local level, we support our community via sponsorship and charity work and through our home and work environment, The Lodge was purpose built to reduce our carbon footprint and increase energy efficiency.
Our commitment to sustainability
In recent years we have reviewed and evolved the business to match personal commitments to reducing our impact. As part of this process we identified our footprint and implemented processes to offset these and are currently updating our fleet of vehicles to hybrids. See our sustainability page.
The Lodge
Making a difference to the world starts at home
We have combined our home and work environment to eliminate the need for an additional building and for commuting.
Not only does this instantly reduce our carbon footprint, but it also means we can work every day with minimal impact.

Bury St Edmunds RUFC
“We are sincerely grateful to Excell Timber Windows for their support of Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club. We are a truly community rugby club – priding ourselves on offering rugby, a facility and a community hub to all. We are also ambitious and for both elements, we are reliant on the generosity, support and vision of many local businesses.
Without likeminded people such as Sam and the team at Excell Timber Windows, we simply wouldn’t be able to exist and to uphold our responsibility to the community we serve. We are sincerely grateful for their support and we are proud to have Excell Timber Windows in the Bury Rugby Family.”
